Job Description:
The Graphic Designer will take a lead role in developing graphic design projects to support this town is small and its various programming initiatives, introducing them to the work of a small non-profit arts organisation that supports local artists. The Graphic Designer will work independently and under the guidance of the Executive Director and the Programming Coordinator to design both print and digital materials.
this town is small (TTIS) is Prince Edward Island’s artist-run centre, established in 2010. TTIS is a spaceless organization that is committed to supporting contemporary art through diverse and supportive community partnerships, providing opportunities for artists and making connections with the public. It operates from an office space in The Vessel (https://thevesselpei.ca/) in Charlottetown, PEI and it presents exhibitions, residencies, workshops, artist talks, and other programming with partnering venues across Prince Edward Island. This position can be done with a combination of working from home and in our office space in Charlottetown. Applicants are required to have access to their own computer to work from.
Job Duties:
Applicants should have experience/education in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Communications, or equivalent. They have strong organisational skills, attention to detail, graphic design and/or photography skills, communication/writing skills, proficiency with office tools, and ability to work well both independently and with teams.
Applicants should have advanced English skills and additional language skills are considered an asset.
- Meet with team members to determine requirements and vision for design elements, which may include multiple meetings and creating multiple versions of a product to send through approvals
- Work with basic office tools and softwares (Google Drive, WordPress, Canva, etc.)
- Select fonts, colours, shapes, designs, styles, and layouts for projects
- Design printed materials including exhibition catalogues, flyers, posters, and vinyl lettering
- Prepare photographs, graphics, and other visuals for use on the website, social media, and monthly e-newsletters and for printed materials
- Review finalised materials to be sure there are no errors
- Assist with programming and events as needed
