Receiver Coffee – Call for Submissions 2022-2023

Deadline for Submissions: July 8, 2022

this town is small is seeking exhibition proposals for the 2022-2023 programming season at Receiver Coffee (128 Richmond Street, Charlottetown, PE). Professional artists that are currently residing in PEI are eligible to apply.

Artists are invited to submit recent artworks that are original, forward-thinking, and incite conversation, with preference given to works that have not yet been exhibited in the region. We are enthusiastic about artists’ most recent endeavours and art forms that propel contemporary production and incite conversation. Receiver Coffee is unique in the sense that it is not a typical white cube gallery space – it is a public space that is already rich in character and interaction. We encourage applicants to familiarize themselves with the venue before applying.

Applicants should be aware that there is an element of vulnerability for the work, as it is a high-traffic space where food and beverages are consumed. Preference will be given to wall-mounted works that are suitable in these conditions. The artist assumes full responsibility for the work, including any damage or loss. Exhibitions will run for approximately 8-10 weeks.

Submissions will be reviewed by a jury made up of professional artists and community members. TTIS is committed to equal opportunities and we encourage applicants who identify as Indigenous, members of visible minorities, LGBTQ2SIA+, and persons with disabilities to apply.

Artist fees that meet CARFAC guidelines will be paid to the selected artists.

Selected exhibitions will take place between October 2022 – April 2023.

Submissions are due July 8, 2022 at midnight.
