this town is small is seeking proposals for the 2020-21 exhibition season in our
community gallery space at the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market, 100 Belvedere Avenue, Charlottetown PEI.
The this town is small Market Gallery is located within the indoor seating and eating space of The Charlottetown Farmers’ Market: a place where locals and visitors enjoy their food from the market vendors and socialize. The this town is small Market Gallery is unique in the sense that it is not a typical white cube gallery space – it is a public space that is already rich in character and interaction.
this town is small is interested in proposals involving new works which have not previously been exhibited in this locale and which may take into account the unique context of the Market Gallery. We accept proposals from established and emerging artists and curators who maintain progressive forward looking practices driven by innovative ideas and production approaches and whose work is based on an articulate theoretical and/or critical and/or poetic thesis.
As a community- based exhibition space we also welcome applications from artists with very little exhibition experience. First-time, pre-emerging artists with limited public exposure, are encouraged to contact the Peake Street collective who can assist you in preparing your application.
Please Note:
Artists and Curators submitting a proposal should be aware that there is an element of vulnerability for the work as it is a high-traffic exhibition space where food and beverages are consumed. The space is best suited to two dimensional works and site-specific works will be given priority.

1) The following text files sent as a single PDF
-current CV (maximum three pages)
-artist statement
-detailed exhibition proposal
2) A maximum of 10 images (large images must be shared via dropbox link or Google
drive)
