Peake Street

low barrier exhibition opportunities

The Peake Street Collective was established in 2005 when ten Island artists began regularly exhibiting new works in a former garage space attached to a private home in Charlottetown

Since joining forces with This Town is Small in 2013, Peake Street’s membership has grown to include 208 artists who are diverse in terms of experience. While the majority are emerging and established artists, the group also recognizes the importance of fostering the growth of early-emerging artists and first-time exhibitors. To this end, Peake Street offers low barrier exhibitions and artist challenges which are not juried.

Peake Street Mentorship Initiative

Peake Street began operating under the umbrella of This Town Is Small following a number of successful collaborative exhibitions. Working in concert with the Artist Run Centre has allowed the collective to expand their mandate to include support for artists via workshops and mentorship opportunities.

Peake Street provides support to artists via workshops and one on one mentorships which are offered on a first come, first served basis. Workshops provide help to early- emerging members interested in professionalizing support documents like Artist CVs, Artist Statements, Project Descriptions, etc.  One on one support is also available for emerging and established artists and early-emerging artists who are approaching the point at which they may begin to qualify for professional opportunities.
