Call for Proposals for small screen: space - An experimental video screening
Deadline: Sunday, november 24, 2024 at midnight AST
about small screen
Small Screen is a programming initiative by This Town Is Small that highlights experimental film and video through a vibrant community event!
This Town Is Small is seeking submissions of short experimental videos/films (under 5 minutes) by Epekwitk/PEI-based artists to share at a public screening in December. Whether new or old work, submissions should connect to the broad theme of Space:
Space can be vast and infinite, like the cosmos above us, or intimate and personal, like the spaces we inhabit daily. Space is physical, celestial, abstract, and metaphorical. It can be the vacuum of the universe, the expanse between, or the act of taking up room in the world by asserting presence, or claiming identity.
How does space shape us? How do we move through it, expand within it, or find boundaries? Space can refer to places, emptiness, social dynamics, expanses of time, or vast celestial bodies that spark wonder and exploration.
Eligibility
Small Screen is open to all artists currently residing in Epekwitk/Prince Edward Island. Submissions will not be juried, and TTIS hopes to screen all video works that adhere to submission guidelines and fit within the allotted screening time on a first-come-first-serve basis. Due to time constraints, we ask that artists submit one submission per artist/collective.
Details
Videos in Small Screen: Space will be shared at a public event in Charlottetown in early December 2024.
We welcome submissions from artists at any stage of their career. We hope that artists are inspired to create new works, and encourage artists who have not previously worked in video - as well as artists with an established practice in video to apply!

All videos must be converted to single channel, 1080p, MP4

Videos over 5 minutes long will be accepted on a case-by-case basis, and videos that are 5 minutes and under will be prioritized.
