ArtTalk + Beer Release with Tanya Davis

September 29 | 2:00 – 4:00 PM

Upstreet Craft Brewing
41 Allen Street
Charlottetown, PE

Our final Do Good Artist in Residence for 2019 is Tanya Davis.
She’ll be giving an art talk and releasing her IPA on Sunday, September 29th from 2-4pm here at Upstreet. Our Do Good Artist Residency is in collaboration with This Town is Small.

Tanya Davis is a poet and performer originally from Summerside, PEI. Working across artistic genre and form, she has released albums of music and books of poetry, acted on stage and in film, and has been commissioned by the likes of CBC and the Canada Games.

While participating in the Do Good residency, Davis will create a new collection of text-based work around the guiding phrase: Climate / Change. Together, these two words represent a critical discussion, a newsworthy topic, a reason to worry. Separately, they are springboards to countless conversations, covering intimate topics or universal ones. From internal landscape to issues facing Islanders to how we resist or adapt. Content generated from this theme will be displayed and disseminated locally through various and alternative means, a temporary installation of words and ideas. Davis will spend her working hours moving between the studio space provided at the warehouse and the Upstreet Taproom. She will also meander around Charlottetown, attending community and arts events and engaging with the local population, for both work and joy.
